The Freer´s Home
A heartfelt reveal of The Freer Home, our lovingly restored old Mallorca finca, now fully brought back to life.
One of the first things we fell in love with was the incredible Virginia creeper draping the entire side façade. A breathtaking sight upon arrival. Taming it took patience, but it was worth every moment.
The original shutters were beyond saving, too rotten to restore. We replaced them with new ones, painted in a soft olive grey-green that complements the stone. Little sitting areas now grace every side of the house, ideal for escaping midday heat or catching a breeze. Teak benches we adore flank traditional terracotta pots, crafted locally in those timeless shapes (we sourced about 25 giant ones, now brimming with cascading plants). Modern pots rarely make the cut for us unless they truly stand out.
Inside, the new ambiences shine. Our favourite breakfast corner centres on a big round coffee table surrounded by a cheerful mix of armchairs, rocking chairs, and stools, always ready for however many guests appear. The rocking chairs (snagged from a neighbour's clearance) remain a hit, lightweight and perfect for sunset watching. Large square armchairs, piled with cushions, comfortably seat two. We still rearrange the furniture weekly with no fixed formula, just instinct.
